Lot 3: Indiecraft

A World of Warcraft armory for indie founders.

Lifetime revenue is your XP, every stat is an equipment slot, and your item level is the average of your gear. Classes, rarities, achievements and a ladder.

It runs on public TrustMRR data, with 5,900 founders on the ladder. Founders claim their sheet with X, which turns their product links into dofollow backlinks.

Where it could go

Three directions a buyer could take it, and what each one changes for the business.

  • Sell the vanity

Charge founders for what founders like: an embeddable armory card for their site, a custom title, a verified badge. $9, once.

For the business: Small tickets, but every embed is a backlink and an ad for the site. Revenue depends on how many of the 5,900 care.

  • Sponsor the guild

Sell one sponsor slot per page to tools that sell to indie founders.

For the business: Plain niche-audience media. It needs traffic first, and the ladder pages are the SEO asset that brings it.

  • Hand it to the data source

The natural buyer is whoever owns the data: TrustMRR itself, or a founder community that wants a game layer.

For the business: One buyer and a strategic price. It's also the main risk: if the data goes away, so does the product.
